Sarkes Tarzian 15114 Vintage 112 pF Open Air Variable Tuning Capacitor
Full Description & History
Sarkes Tarzian 15114 vintage open-frame air variable tuning capacitor with ceramic insulating body, interleaved metal rotor and stator plates, and adjustable shaft. Capacitance measured approximately 112 pF in the open position.
Suitable for vintage radio restoration, RF tuning circuits, oscillators, antenna matching networks, receiver and transmitter repair, test equipment, and experimental RF projects where a mechanically adjustable air-variable capacitor is required.
Lifecycle: OBSOLETE
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. was an American electronics manufacturer associated with radio, television, semiconductor, tuner, and related electronic component production during the growth of the U.S. consumer electronics industry.
Air-variable capacitors were widely used in radio receivers, transmitters, oscillators, antenna tuners, communications equipment, and laboratory instruments before electronically controlled and synthesized tuning became dominant. Their capacitance changes mechanically as the rotor plates move relative to the fixed stator plates.
Ceramic construction provided electrical insulation and mechanical stability, making this style especially useful in RF and tuning applications. Original Sarkes Tarzian variable capacitors are now useful for vintage electronics restoration, period-correct repair, collecting, and RF experimentation.
Legacy or discontinued stock no longer in normal production flow. Future supply may be limited.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
