Full Description & History

Vintage Tex-Cap Type 21 axial capacitor rated 0.1 uF at 200 VDC. This is an older non-electrolytic axial capacitor suitable for vintage electronics restoration, audio amplifier repair, stereo equipment, tube-era electronics, radio circuits, coupling applications, tone circuits, filtering, and other period-correct repair work where the electrical specifications are appropriate.

Bench measured approximately 102.9 nF, equivalent to 0.1029 uF, using a DER EE DE-5000 LCR meter at 120 Hz in Cs mode. This is approximately 2.9% above the marked 0.1 uF nominal value and represents a very good capacitance reading for a vintage component.

Lifecycle: OBSOLETE.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Tex-Cap Inc. was a United States capacitor manufacturer associated with a broad range of fixed capacitors used in professional, industrial, communications, and consumer electronic equipment. Period service literature documents Tex-Cap capacitors in vintage electronic equipment, including metallized Mylar and other film-dielectric types. Tex-Cap parts are also represented in older U.S. government and military supply records under capacitor classifications. Vintage axial capacitors of this general type were widely used for signal coupling, filtering, tone networks, bypass applications, and other non-electrolytic functions in radios, amplifiers, hi-fi equipment, test equipment, and other electronic assemblies.
