Full Description & History

Vintage Good-All 0.47 uF 200 VDC axial capacitor, Type 663 UW, suitable for restoration and repair applications where an older-style axial non-polarized capacitor is required. This style of capacitor was used in vintage electronic equipment and is appropriate for consideration in audio amplifiers, vintage stereo equipment, tube-era electronics, radio circuits, coupling applications, filtering, tone circuits, and restoration work when the original circuit specifications match.

Bench measured at 465.6 nF, equivalent to 0.4656 uF, using a DER EE DE-5000 LCR meter in Cs mode. This is approximately 0.9% below the marked 0.47 uF nominal value and represents an excellent capacitance reading for a vintage component.

Lifecycle: OBSOLETE.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Good-All Electric Manufacturing Company produced capacitors used extensively during the tube and early solid-state eras of American electronics. The 663-UW family is documented in period professional electronic equipment parts lists as a Mylar dielectric capacitor series. Components from this era are now sought by technicians and restorers maintaining vintage radios, amplifiers, communications equipment, and other period electronics. Older Good-All capacitors are also encountered in vintage audio and guitar-amplifier parts markets, where original-period components may be desirable for historically sympathetic restoration work.
