Symbol Motorola MC9000 MC9090 MC9190 Charging Cradle 4-Slot Battery Charger 6 Batteries ADP9000-100R Adapter
Full Description & History
Complete Symbol / Motorola MC9000-series charging and accessory package for rugged enterprise barcode scanners and mobile computers.
This package includes a single-slot scanner charging cradle with a separate spare-battery charging position, a four-slot spare-battery charging station, six tested working rechargeable batteries, compatible power supplies and power cables, and a genuine Symbol ADP9000-100R portable scanner adapter.
The single-slot cradle allows a compatible MC9000-series handheld scanner/mobile computer to be docked and charged while also charging a spare battery in the secondary battery position.
The separate four-slot charger provides four dedicated battery charging positions, allowing multiple spare batteries to be maintained and rotated for continuous commercial use.
The included ADP9000-100R is a genuine Symbol Technologies portable adapter designed for compatible MC9000-series handheld equipment. It provides an additional connection option for users who need to interface with the handheld without relying solely on the desktop cradle.
All included charging equipment has been powered and tested. The six included batteries have been tested and are presently working. Because these are legacy rechargeable batteries, exact remaining capacity and operating runtime can vary and are not guaranteed.
Compatible power supplies and power cables are included with the charging equipment.
Lifecycle: DISCONTINUED.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The Symbol MC9000 family became one of the most widely recognized generations of rugged enterprise mobile computers used for barcode scanning, inventory management, warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, and asset tracking.
Unlike consumer handheld computers, the MC9000 platform was designed from the beginning as heavy-duty workhorse equipment. Symbol engineered these terminals for environments where equipment could be dropped, bumped, exposed to dust and dirt, handled continuously throughout long work shifts, and subjected to thousands of repetitive barcode scans.
These rugged systems became especially important in warehouse, freight, transportation, and airline environments. Motorola and Symbol MC9000-series scanners were widely used in airline-related operations because their rugged construction made them suitable for baggage handling, freight tracking, cargo operations, airport warehouses, loading areas, ramp operations, equipment tracking, shipping, receiving, and other demanding ground-support applications.
Airline and airport workers required equipment that could survive much rougher conditions than ordinary consumer electronics. Rugged handheld scanners such as the MC9000-series were built for that type of environment, with heavy-duty housings, physical keypads, pistol-grip configurations, removable batteries, integrated barcode scanning hardware, and charging systems designed to support continuous operation.
These terminals became true industrial workhorses. In airline baggage and freight operations, warehouse facilities, distribution centers, and transportation terminals, a scanner could be used continuously throughout a shift while tracking thousands of items. Reliability and the ability to quickly change batteries were critical because a failed or discharged scanner could slow down an entire inventory or cargo-handling operation.
The removable-battery system was therefore an important part of the MC9000 design. Instead of taking a scanner out of service while waiting for an internal battery to recharge, an operator could remove the depleted pack, install a charged spare, and immediately return the unit to service.
The single-slot MC9000-series cradle combined handheld charging with an additional spare-battery charging position. This allowed a scanner and replacement battery to remain ready at the same workstation.
The separate four-position battery charger was intended for larger operations where multiple scanners and batteries were being used across several shifts. Warehouses, freight facilities, manufacturing plants, and airline operations could keep multiple batteries charging while other batteries remained in active service.
This type of battery rotation helped make the MC9000 family especially effective as around-the-clock workhorse equipment. A properly organized operation could keep scanners moving through multiple shifts without waiting for individual units to recharge.
Symbol Technologies was later acquired by Motorola, and the MC9000 platform continued through multiple generations under Symbol and Motorola branding. Models within the extended family included equipment such as the MC9000, MC9060, MC9090, MC9190, and later MC92N0-series systems.
The long production life of the platform resulted in a large ecosystem of batteries, charging cradles, multi-battery chargers, portable adapters, cables, holsters, vehicle accessories, and other support equipment. Much of this hardware remained in service for many years because the scanners were rugged, repairable, and deeply integrated into established warehouse and transportation systems.
The included ADP9000-100R portable adapter is part of this original MC9000 accessory ecosystem. The example included with this package is marked Symbol Technologies, Made in Mexico, and manufactured January 28, 2015, demonstrating how long support equipment for the MC9000 platform remained in production.
Although these systems are now discontinued, original MC9000-series accessories remain useful for businesses maintaining legacy scanner systems, warehouses, airline and freight operations with older equipment, industrial repair facilities, collectors, training environments, custom inventory projects, and users restoring or repurposing rugged enterprise mobile computers.
Legacy or discontinued stock no longer in normal production flow. Future supply may be limited.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
