Panasonic ERJ-3RQF1R0V 1 Ohm 1% 0603 Current Sense Resistor 95 PCS
Full Description & History
95 PCS Panasonic ERJ-3RQF1R0V thick-film current-sense surface-mount resistors with a nominal resistance of 1 ohm in the compact 0603 package.
These resistors feature 1% tolerance and a 1/10 watt power rating. The ERJ-3R series is designed for low-resistance and current-sensing applications where controlled resistance values are used to develop a measurable voltage proportional to circuit current.
The 1 ohm value is useful in current monitoring, power-management circuitry, regulator circuits, protection networks, battery-powered electronics, industrial controls, communications equipment, embedded systems, and general PCB repair.
The 0603 package measures approximately 1.6 x 0.8 mm, allowing current-sensing and low-resistance functions to be incorporated into compact surface-mount circuit designs.
The original Mouser distributor package identifies Panasonic current-sense resistor stock, country of origin Japan, and date code 2103, corresponding to production during the 3rd week of 2021.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Panasonic traces its history to 1918 and developed into one of Japan's largest electronics manufacturers. In addition to consumer products, Panasonic became a major worldwide producer of resistors, capacitors, relays, switches, sensors, and other electronic components.
Current-sense resistors became increasingly important as electronic systems incorporated more sophisticated power-management and protection circuitry.
A current-sense resistor works by placing a known low resistance in the current path. The small voltage developed across that resistor can then be measured by an amplifier, controller, regulator, or monitoring circuit to determine how much current is flowing.
This simple principle became fundamental in battery chargers, switching regulators, motor controllers, power supplies, protection circuits, automotive electronics, and numerous embedded systems.
As electronics became smaller, manufacturers developed miniature low-resistance chip resistors capable of performing this function directly on surface-mount circuit boards.
The ERJ-3R family represents this evolution of current-sensing technology. Its compact 0603 package allows engineers to incorporate low-resistance monitoring functions into circuits without requiring the much larger wirewound or leaded resistors commonly used in earlier generations of electronic equipment.
The 1% tolerance is particularly useful in current-sensing applications because errors in the resistor value directly affect the accuracy of the calculated or monitored current.
Modern current-sense resistors therefore combine several important characteristics: compact size, predictable resistance, low parasitic effects, stable performance, and compatibility with automated PCB manufacturing.
