Taiyo Yuden BKP1608HS121-T 120 Ohm 2.7A 0603 Power Line Ferrite Bead 75 PCS
Full Description & History
75 PCS Taiyo Yuden BKP1608HS121-T high-current, low-DC-resistance multilayer ferrite beads in the compact 0603 surface-mount package.
The BKP1608HS121-T provides a nominal impedance of 120 ohms ±25% at 100 MHz and is designed specifically for power-line noise suppression. Its high-current construction supports up to 2.7 A under specified operating conditions while maintaining a maximum DC resistance of only 35 milliohms.
The low DC resistance helps minimize voltage drop and power loss while the ferrite structure suppresses unwanted high-frequency noise traveling along DC power rails.
The 0603 / 1608 metric package measures approximately 1.6 x 0.8 mm, making these components useful for compact power-supply, digital, RF, communications, computer, control, and embedded-electronics PCB designs.
The original Mouser distributor package identifies Taiyo Yuden ferrite bead stock, country of origin Philippines, and date code 1722, corresponding to production during the 22nd week of 2017.
LIFECYCLE STATUS: OBSOLETE
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Taiyo Yuden was founded in Japan in 1950 and became a major international manufacturer of passive electronic components including ceramic capacitors, inductors, ferrite beads, filters, resonators, and other components used throughout communications, computing, industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics.
As digital electronics became faster, electromagnetic interference and high-frequency noise on power-supply lines became increasingly important design problems. Fast-switching processors, logic circuits, regulators, and digital interfaces can generate unwanted high-frequency energy that travels through PCB power and ground networks.
Ferrite beads became one of the most widely used solutions. At DC and low frequencies, a ferrite bead behaves much like a very low-resistance conductor. At higher frequencies, its impedance increases and helps dissipate unwanted RF energy rather than allowing that noise to propagate through the circuit.
This behavior makes ferrite beads especially useful for isolating noisy digital power rails, suppressing switching-regulator noise, reducing conducted EMI, protecting sensitive analog or RF sections, and improving electromagnetic compatibility.
The BKP series was developed for power-line applications where ordinary small-signal ferrite beads could not carry sufficient current. The BKP1608HS121-T combines a 120-ohm impedance specification at 100 MHz with high current capability and a maximum DC resistance of only 35 milliohms.
This combination allowed engineers to add significant high-frequency suppression to a power rail without introducing excessive DC voltage loss or heat.
The 0603 package reflects the continuing miniaturization of EMI-suppression technology. Functions that once required comparatively large inductors, chokes, or filter assemblies can now be incorporated directly beside integrated circuits and regulators in extremely compact PCB layouts.
The BKP1608HS121-T has since reached obsolete / phaseout status, making original distributor stock increasingly relevant for exact replacement, legacy production support, prototype repair, and maintenance of equipment originally designed around this specific Taiyo Yuden component.
Unused new old stock from legacy inventory. Packaging, age, and cosmetic condition may vary.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
