ROHM ESR03EZPJ101 100 Ohm 5% 0603 Anti-Surge SMD Resistor 120 PCS
Full Description & History
120 PCS ROHM Semiconductor ESR03EZPJ101 thick-film anti-surge surface-mount resistors with a nominal resistance of 100 ohms in the compact 0603 package.
The ESR03EZPJ101 is designed specifically for applications requiring improved resistance to electrical surge events compared with ordinary general-purpose chip resistors. It carries a 5% resistance tolerance, 0.33 watt power rating, 150 V maximum working-voltage rating, and ±200 ppm/°C temperature coefficient.
The ESR series uses a specialized resistive-element structure intended to improve pulse and surge durability. This makes the device useful in power-control circuitry, automotive electronics, industrial equipment, communications hardware, protection networks, switching circuits, interface electronics, and other applications where momentary electrical stress may occur.
The part is AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive-grade passive-component applications.
The original Mouser distributor package identifies country of origin Philippines and date code 1848, corresponding to production during the 48th week of 2018.
LIFECYCLE STATUS: ACTIVE
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
ROHM was established in Japan in 1958 and developed into a major international semiconductor and electronic-component manufacturer. The company became known for resistors, diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, power semiconductors, LEDs, sensors, and numerous other components used throughout consumer, industrial, communications, and automotive electronics.
The company's name has historical roots in resistor manufacturing. ROHM began during the postwar expansion of the Japanese electronics industry, when demand for compact and increasingly reliable electronic components was growing rapidly.
Surface-mount resistor technology became especially important from the 1980s onward as electronic manufacturers shifted away from traditional leaded components toward automated surface-mount assembly.
The 0603 package, approximately 1.6 x 0.8 mm, became one of the most widely adopted chip-resistor sizes because it offers a practical combination of small physical size, manufacturing efficiency, and useful electrical capability.
As electronics moved into increasingly demanding automotive and industrial environments, ordinary resistance value and tolerance were no longer the only design considerations. Engineers also required components capable of surviving short-duration voltage and current surges caused by switching events, inductive loads, power transients, and other electrical disturbances.
Anti-surge resistor families such as ROHM's ESR series were developed for these more demanding applications. Their resistive-element construction is optimized to withstand significantly greater pulse stress than conventional chip-resistor structures of similar size.
AEC-Q200 qualification further reflects the increasing importance of component reliability in automotive electronic systems, where parts can be exposed to wide temperature ranges, vibration, electrical transients, and long service lives.
The ESR03EZPJ101 remains a current ROHM product family member. These particular components are original 2018-dated distributor stock from the Philippines.
