ITT 7404N Hex Inverter NOT Gate TTL Logic IC DIP-14 Arcade Repair NOS 1 PCS
Full Description & History
1 PCS original ITT 7404N TTL logic integrated circuit in a 14-pin DIP package. Device is marked ITT, 7404 N, 2G, with production marking 7637.
The 7404N contains six independent inverter gates, also known as NOT gates. Each gate produces the opposite logic state from its input. This classic 7400-series TTL device was widely used for logic inversion, signal conditioning, timing support, pulse shaping, control logic, video circuitry, interfacing, and other digital functions in arcade machines, computers, industrial electronics, test equipment, and early digital systems.
LIFECYCLE: OBSOLETE. The original ITT-manufactured 7404N is a discontinued legacy semiconductor. The 7404 logic function remains available from other manufacturers and newer logic families, but original vintage ITT 7404N devices are no longer current-production ITT components.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The 7404 became one of the fundamental members of the original 7400-series TTL logic family that helped form the foundation of digital electronics during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Inside the 14-pin package are six independent inverter gates. Inverters were essential building blocks because they allowed circuit designers to reverse logic states, condition signals, create timing networks, shape pulses, interface different logic sections, and construct more complex digital functions from simple gates.
Classic arcade circuit boards made extensive use of 7400-series TTL devices before custom integrated circuits became common. Chips such as the 7404 could be found throughout game logic, video generation, timing, address decoding, signal control, and support circuitry on early arcade boards.
The exact semiconductor manufacturer originally installed on a specific arcade board could vary. This ITT-branded 7404N should therefore be considered a period-correct vintage replacement where a compatible standard 7404 TTL hex inverter is specified rather than being represented as the factory-installed ITT brand for every game.
Unused new old stock from legacy inventory. Packaging, age, and cosmetic condition may vary.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.

Suitable for vintage electronic equipment requiring a compatible standard 7404 hex inverter TTL device. The 7404 logic function was widely used in classic arcade hardware as well as vintage computers, industrial controls, instrumentation, test equipment, and other digital electronics. Buyer should verify supply voltage, pinout, TTL loading requirements, board location, and exact circuit compatibility before installation.
