Hitachi HN462716G 2716 16Kbit UV EPROM Ceramic Arcade Memory IC NOS 1 PCS
Full Description & History
1 PCS original Hitachi HN462716G 16Kbit ultraviolet-erasable programmable read-only memory IC in a 24-pin ceramic DIP package with quartz erase window. Device is marked JAPAN, HN462716G, with an additional production marking visible on the package. A small handwritten identification label marked 1B is positioned over the erase window.
The HN462716G is organized as 2048 words x 8 bits, providing 2,048 bytes of nonvolatile storage. It was designed for firmware, program code, game ROM data, control programs, lookup tables, and other permanent or reprogrammable data applications in early microprocessor systems.
LIFECYCLE: OBSOLETE. The Hitachi HN462716G is discontinued and no longer in current production. Original ceramic Hitachi devices are legacy components sought for vintage arcade restoration, computer repair, industrial electronics, and period-correct programmable memory applications.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The HN462716G belongs to the 2716 generation of UV EPROMs that became widely used during the late 1970s and early 1980s. These devices allowed stored information to be erased by exposing the silicon die through the quartz window to ultraviolet light and then electrically programming new data into the device.
Hitachi produced the HN462716G as a 2048 x 8-bit memory device in a 24-pin ceramic package. This type of EPROM became particularly important during the early microprocessor era because arcade manufacturers and other electronics companies could store game software, operating code, graphics information, sound-related data, and equipment firmware in replaceable socketed memory devices.
The exact HN462716G has documented use on classic arcade hardware, including Phoenix-related arcade boards and Zaccaria Crazy Kong hardware. Hitachi 2716-family EPROMs were also used across numerous other early arcade systems. This makes original examples useful to arcade-board collectors and technicians maintaining period hardware.
The broader 2716 EPROM family was also extensively used in early computers, industrial controllers, test equipment, communications electronics, and other microprocessor-controlled systems. Ceramic-window Hitachi examples with characteristic of early programmable-memory technology and are increasingly encountered as vintage restoration stock rather than current-production components.
Legacy or discontinued stock no longer in normal production flow. Future supply may be limited.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
