Hitachi HN462732G 2732 32Kbit UV EPROM Arcade Memory IC CDIP-24 NOS 1 PCS
Full Description & History
1 PCS original Hitachi HN462732G 32Kbit ultraviolet-erasable programmable read-only memory in a 24-pin ceramic DIP package with quartz erase window. Device is marked HN462732G and JAPAN. The HN462732G is organized as 4096 words x 8 bits and belongs to the 2732 generation of EPROM memory devices widely used for program code, graphics data, control data, and other fixed-memory applications in early digital electronics.
LIFECYCLE: OBSOLETE. The Hitachi HN462732G is a discontinued legacy EPROM from the early programmable-memory era. Original Hitachi devices are no longer in current production and are primarily encountered as vintage replacement, restoration, programming, and collector stock.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
The HN462732G was part of Hitachi's early UV-erasable EPROM family and provided 32,768 bits of nonvolatile storage organized as 4096 x 8. Devices of this type became important during the late 1970s and early 1980s because technicians and equipment manufacturers could erase stored data with ultraviolet light and reprogram the same memory device.
The HN462732G has documented use in classic arcade hardware. The 1982 Zilec Electronics arcade game The Pit used multiple HN462732G EPROMs on its main board alongside Z80 processors and an AY-3-8910 sound generator. HN462732G devices are also documented as graphics ROMs in early arcade hardware associated with Mr. Du!. These applications make the device relevant for preservation and restoration of original arcade circuit boards where period-correct 2732-family EPROMs are desired.
Beyond arcade equipment, 2732-class EPROMs were widely used in early computers, controllers, industrial equipment, instruments, embedded systems, and other microprocessor-based electronics. Original ceramic-window Hitachi devices are representative of the programmable-memory technology used during that period.
Legacy or discontinued stock no longer in normal production flow. Future supply may be limited.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
