Full Description & History

Laird HZ0603C651R-10 surface-mount ferrite beads supplied as one package containing 140 PCS. These components use the compact 0603 SMD package and provide 650 ohm impedance for suppressing unwanted high-frequency noise on power, signal, and circuit-board conductors.

LIFECYCLE STATUS: NOT VERIFIED. The original Digi-Key distributor label identifies manufacturer part number HZ0603C651R-10 and describes the component as a 650 ohm 0603 single-line ferrite bead. The package is marked lead free and RoHS compliant and identifies Laird Signal Integrity Products as the manufacturer.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Ferrite beads became increasingly important as electronic equipment moved toward higher switching speeds and more densely populated circuit boards. Unlike a conventional resistor, a ferrite bead is designed to impede unwanted high-frequency energy while allowing normal DC or lower-frequency current to pass. Compact 0603 ferrite beads became common in communications equipment, digital electronics, power filtering, RF-related circuitry, and other designs where electromagnetic interference and conducted noise must be controlled without consuming significant PCB space.
