Vintage Sickles heavy-duty air-variable tuning capacitor featuring rugged metal construction, widely spaced rotor and stator plates, insulated stator support, threaded panel-mount bushing, and adjustable shaft. This is a substantial vintage RF component designed for applications where stable mechanically adjustable capacitance is required.
Bench tested with a DER EE DE-5000 LCR meter. Measured capacitance range across the mechanical adjustment was approximately 4.20 pF to 16.71 pF.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Sickles was an American manufacturer associated with high-quality radio-frequency components and air-variable capacitors used in communications, laboratory, military, and radio equipment. F. W. Sickles produced precision variable capacitor designs during the classic vacuum-tube and early communications-electronics era. The Sickles capacitor operation was later acquired by Cardwell, another important American manufacturer of RF variable capacitors. Original Sickles-marked components are now encountered primarily as vintage replacement, restoration, surplus, and experimental RF parts.
