HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: Taiyo Yuden has been a major manufacturer of multilayer ceramic capacitors used throughout communications, computing, industrial, consumer, and power electronics. Improvements in multilayer ceramic technology allowed useful capacitance values such as 0.47 uF to be produced in the compact 0603 footprint while retaining a 50V rating.
