HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: The 0.1 uF ceramic capacitor became one of the most widely used components in modern electronics because of its effectiveness as a local bypass and decoupling capacitor for integrated circuits and power rails. As circuit boards became smaller and surface-mount manufacturing became standard, the 0603 MLCC format allowed designers to place these capacitors very close to IC power pins to suppress switching noise and stabilize supply voltages. KEMET's C Series became widely used in industrial, communications, computing, consumer, and control electronics. This part remains an active component and is not considered obsolete.
