Genuine vintage donor-pull transistor set removed together from a Taiwan-built Cobra 2000 GTL CB base station. This is an original used donor set, not modern replacement stock and not reproduction parts. The set includes one genuine Mitsubishi 2SC1969 RF power final transistor, one genuine Mitsubishi 2SC2166 RF driver transistor, and one Hitachi 2SD1135 NPN power transistor. All three devices were physically removed from the same Cobra 2000 GTL donor radio and are being sold together as a three-piece restoration set. The components show normal evidence of previous installation and removal, including solder residue and used leads, consistent with authentic donor-pull parts.

The Mitsubishi 2SC1969 is the RF power final in this donor set and is one of the most desirable original Japanese RF transistors associated with classic 27 MHz CB equipment. Mitsubishi designed the 2SC1969 as an NPN RF power transistor for HF mobile-radio transmitter service, with published performance around 16 watts RF output at 27 MHz under specified operating conditions. Genuine original Mitsubishi 2SC1969 devices have been out of production for many years and have become increasingly difficult to obtain, particularly because the part number has also been heavily reproduced and counterfeited. This donor-pull example carries the original Mitsubishi marking and came directly from the Taiwan-built Cobra 2000 GTL donor radio shown in this listing.

The Mitsubishi 2SC2166 is a classic RF driver transistor widely associated with 27 MHz AM and SSB transmitter stages. Mitsubishi designed the 2SC2166 for RF power-amplifier and driver applications operating from approximately 12-volt radio supplies. Original Japanese Mitsubishi 2SC2166 devices are also discontinued legacy components and are sought by technicians repairing vintage CB, export and amateur-radio equipment. The device in this set is an original used donor pull and retains its Mitsubishi manufacturer marking.

The Hitachi 2SD1135 is an NPN power transistor historically used in power-control, modulation and regulator applications. It is a discontinued legacy Hitachi device and is included because it was removed together with the RF transistors from this same Cobra 2000 GTL donor unit. The 2SD1135 is not being represented as an RF final; its value in this set is as an original period donor component from the radio's power and transmitter-related circuitry.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: The Cobra 2000 GTL is one of the most recognized and collectible American CB base stations from the late analog CB era. Produced for Cobra/Dynascan using Uniden-designed circuitry, the 2000 GTL combined AM and SSB operation with a built-in frequency counter, clock, dual meters and a large base-station cabinet. Early production examples were manufactured in Taiwan, with later production appearing from other Asian manufacturing locations. The Taiwan-built radios are especially interesting to restorers because they represent the earlier production period of a model that became a flagship of high-end CB base-station equipment.

Original Japanese RF transistors such as the Mitsubishi 2SC1969 and 2SC2166 were central to the transmitter technology of this period. As original production ended and replacement stocks disappeared, technicians increasingly had to contend with substitute devices and counterfeit parts carrying famous Mitsubishi numbers. For restoration work, a genuine transistor removed from a known period donor radio can therefore have significantly greater value than an unidentified loose component. This RF Boneyard set is being preserved specifically as a known-provenance donor-pull group rather than being separated into unrelated individual parts.

RESTORATION NOTE: The three transistors were removed together from a Taiwan-built Cobra 2000 GTL, but RF Boneyard does not claim that every Cobra 2000 GTL production revision used this exact three-transistor combination from the factory. Component selections could vary by production revision, board revision or previous service history. The 2SC2166 or 2SD1135 may have been factory selections in a particular revision or may represent period service replacements installed during the radio's working life. Buyers should verify their individual Cobra 2000 GTL chassis, schematic, transistor position, bias requirements, pinout and surrounding circuitry before installation.

Compatible Radios / Boards

Intended primarily as a vintage donor/restoration set for Cobra 2000 GTL and closely related Uniden-designed CB-radio transmitter platforms where the exact transistor numbers and circuit configuration are verified. The 2SC1969 is documented in Cobra 2000 GTL parts information as an RF output transistor. The 2SC2166 is historically used as an RF driver/output transistor in numerous 27MHz CB and SSB transmitter designs. The 2SD1135 is historically encountered as an AM power/regulator transistor in SSB CB equipment. Compatibility varies by Cobra 2000 production revision and previous service history; verify schematic position, PC-497 board revision, transistor pinout, bias, heatsinking and surrounding circuitry before installation. Do not assume these three devices are a universal drop-in set for every Cobra 2000 GTL.

RF Boneyard Bench Notes

Visual inspection completed. All three devices retain clearly readable part markings: 2SD1135, Mitsubishi 2SC1969 and Mitsubishi 2SC2166. These are donor-pull components and have not yet been individually electrically characterized or RF-output tested for this listing. No claim of full RF output power is made until bench testing is completed.
