Historical Note: Sprague Electric was one of the major American capacitor manufacturers of the 20th century. Founded by Robert C. Sprague in the 1920s, the company became closely associated with capacitors used in radios, communications equipment, military electronics, instrumentation, televisions, industrial controls, audio equipment, computers, and laboratory electronics.

Sprague developed a reputation among radio technicians and electronics service shops for producing dependable capacitor families across many different technologies.
