Historical Note: Sprague Electric was one of the major American capacitor manufacturers of the 20th century. Founded by Robert C. Sprague in the 1920s, the company became closely associated with capacitors used in radios, communications equipment, military electronics, instrumentation, televisions, industrial controls, audio equipment, computers, and laboratory electronics.
Sprague developed a reputation among radio technicians and electronics service shops for producing dependable capacitor families across many different technologies. Its components became common throughout American electronic equipment during the tube era and continued into the solid-state period as equipment manufacturers adopted increasingly compact and specialized capacitor designs.
Axial capacitors such as this were widely used before surface-mount assembly became dominant. Their long wire leads made them convenient for point-to-point construction and through-hole circuit boards found in vintage radios, communications equipment, test instruments, industrial electronics, audio equipment, and other serviceable electronic assemblies.
Original Sprague components are still sought by restorers and technicians working on period electronics because they represent the types of parts originally installed in many classic American electronic products.
This capacitor should be electrically checked for capacitance, leakage, ESR, and polarity where applicable before installation. Buyer must verify the required voltage rating, physical dimensions, circuit requirements, and compatibility before use.
Unused new old stock from legacy inventory. Packaging, age, and cosmetic condition may vary.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.
Compatible Radios / Boards
