The ERJ-2GE0R00X is a thick-film 0 ohm jumper in the miniature 0402 (1005 metric) SMD package with a 1/10W rating. These components are designed to provide a PCB-compatible conductive link while using the same automated placement and soldering processes as ordinary surface-mount resistors.
0 ohm resistors became an important production component as electronic manufacturing moved toward increasingly automated surface-mount assembly. Rather than installing a separate wire jumper by hand, designers could specify a resistor-shaped zero-ohm link that could be placed by standard pick-and-place equipment. These jumpers are widely used for PCB routing, configuration options, circuit revisions, test points, ground or signal links, and production variations between different versions of the same circuit board.
