JJ Electronic ECC83S 12AX7 7025 High Gain Dual Triode Vacuum Tube Tested Strong
$17.95
Genuine JJ Electronic ECC83S / 12AX7 high-gain dual-triode preamplifier vacuum tube manufactured in Slovakia. The ECC83S is electrically compatible with the widely used 12AX7 / ECC83 / 7025 tube family and uses the standard 9-pin Noval base. JJ rates the tube for a nominal amplification factor of 100, typical plate voltage of 250V, typical plate current of 1.2mA per section, transconductance of approximately 1.6mA/V, and heater operation at either 6.3V / 300mA or 12.6V / 150mA. The rugged short-plate construction has made the JJ ECC83S especially popular in guitar amplifiers, bass amplifiers, hi-fi audio equipment, tube preamplifiers, effects equipment, and other high-gain audio stages. JJ Electronic continues to manufacture the ECC83S, making this a current-production tube rather than an obsolete type.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: The 12AX7 / ECC83 became one of the most influential small-signal vacuum tubes ever produced, appearing in countless guitar amplifiers, professional audio products, radios, test equipment, hi-fi amplifiers, and preamplifier circuits beginning in the postwar tube era. Its two high-gain triode sections allowed designers to obtain substantial voltage amplification from a single compact 9-pin tube. Fender, Marshall, Vox, Ampeg, Gibson and many other manufacturers built generations of amplifiers around the 12AX7 family. JJ Electronic of Slovakia continues this tradition with the ECC83S, a modern-production 12AX7-type tube widely used to maintain both vintage and contemporary tube equipment without redesigning the original circuitry.

Compatible Radios / Boards
Direct replacement for equipment designed for 12AX7, ECC83, ECC83S and many 7025 applications. Commonly used in guitar and bass amplifier preamp stages, phase-inverter circuits, hi-fi preamplifiers, tube audio equipment, effects equipment and other circuits designed for the 12AX7/ECC83 electrical characteristics and 9-pin Noval base.
RF Boneyard Bench Notes
TEST RESULTS: Both internal triode sections tested strong. Section 1 reading: 115. Section 2 reading: 120. Both sections produced closely grouped readings on the tube tester. These are tester readings and should not be interpreted as plate current or transconductance unless referenced to the specific tester scale.
