$14.99
The RCA 2N6259 is a vintage NPN silicon power transistor housed in the classic TO-3 metal package. Designed for medium and high-power switching and amplification applications, the 2N6259 was widely used in industrial controls, power supplies, linear regulators, audio amplifiers, motor control systems, and commercial electronic equipment.
RCA power transistors earned a reputation for rugged construction and dependable operation during the golden era of American semiconductor manufacturing. Original RCA devices remain desirable among restoration specialists, vintage equipment repair technicians, electronics collectors, and hobbyists seeking authentic replacement components for legacy equipment.
This RF Boneyard™ example has been individually tested using a Peak DCA37 semiconductor analyzer and successfully identified as a functional NPN silicon power transistor. Testing confirmed normal gain characteristics, proper base-emitter junction operation, exceptionally low collector leakage, and excellent saturation performance with no indication of junction failure or internal shorts.
Suitable for equipment restoration, vintage electronics repair, educational projects, component collection, and maintenance of legacy electronic systems.
Vintage Semiconductor History
The RCA 2N6259 originates from an era when RCA was one of America's most influential electronics and semiconductor manufacturers. During the 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s, RCA produced a wide range of power transistors, integrated circuits, television components, and industrial semiconductors that became common throughout commercial and consumer electronics.
The 2N6259 belongs to the classic family of American TO-3 power transistors that helped power industrial equipment, audio amplifiers, voltage regulators, communications equipment, and countless electronic products during the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry.
Today, original RCA power transistors are considered vintage semiconductors and are often sought by restorers, repair technicians, electronics historians, and collectors interested in preserving historically significant electronic equipment. Devices bearing the RCA logo represent an important period in American electronics manufacturing and semiconductor development.
RF Boneyard™ Note: The RCA 2N6259 represents a genuine piece of American semiconductor history from the era when RCA was one of the world's most recognized electronics companies.
