RCA CD4070BE Quad 2-Input XOR CMOS Logic IC DIP-14 Vintage 1 Piece
Full Description & History
Original RCA CD4070BE quad 2-input exclusive-OR (XOR) CMOS logic integrated circuit in a 14-pin through-hole DIP package. Contains four independent XOR gates, each producing a HIGH output when its two inputs differ.
Part of the CD4000B CMOS logic family, featuring low static power consumption, high input impedance, and good noise immunity. Suitable for digital logic repair, signal comparison, parity circuits, electronic instrumentation, and legacy control systems.

Original RCA-marked vintage component suitable for electronic equipment restoration and historical semiconductor collections.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
RCA was a pioneer in commercial CMOS semiconductor technology and helped establish the CD4000 series during the development of low-power digital integrated circuits.
The CD4070B became widely used in binary arithmetic, parity generation, digital comparison, and electronic control applications.
Following General Electric's acquisition of RCA in 1986, the semiconductor operations eventually became part of Harris Semiconductor in 1988. Original RCA-branded semiconductor production was discontinued, although the CD4070BE design remains available from other manufacturers.
Original RCA-marked components are useful for maintaining vintage equipment and preserving period-correct electronic designs.
Legacy or discontinued stock no longer in normal production flow. Future supply may be limited.
Pipeline quantities are informational and may change after arrival, inspection, sorting, testing, or donor teardown.

Suitable for equipment originally designed around the RCA CD4070BE or electrically compatible CD4000B-series quad XOR devices in a 14-pin DIP package.
Typical applications include vintage digital test instruments, frequency counters, industrial logic controllers, telecommunications equipment, binary arithmetic circuits, parity generators, digital comparators, timing systems, and legacy electronic control assemblies.
Potential equivalents include Texas Instruments CD4070BE, HEF4070B, HCF4070B, and MC14070B family devices, subject to verification of package, pinout, operating voltage, timing, and electrical characteristics.
The CD4030B may substitute in certain applications after specification review. The CD4077B performs XNOR logic and is not a direct functional replacement. The 74HC86 and 74LS86 are not universal replacements because of differing electrical requirements.
Original RCA-marked components are particularly appropriate for restoration projects where preserving the original manufacturer's component identity is desirable.
